We are one of the largest clubs in the Wellington region, where we have over 250 children enrolled each year playing cricket - around 30 team playing Saturday morning cricket and Hardball Year 6, Year 7, Year Development teams playing in the Cricket Wellington Zone & Tournaments against other Wellington Clubs.

Junior Team Info

The Junior players are grouped into teams based on the year they are in at school at the beginning of the season. The club tries to accommodate requests to keeps friends playing together - but if this can't be done there are always new friend to be made.

All our junior teams are coached by volunteers, usually a parent of one of the team players. All teams and coaches need assistance with scoring, umpiring, scorers and help on sidelines.

The Junior club is run solely by volunteers. There are heaps of little jobs needing to be done, joining the committee is a great way to support the children and the volunteer coaches.

Junior cricket in New Zealand - Age and Stages

The 2018/19 season New Zealand Cricket made exciting changes to the formats of junior cricket, to improve the enjoyment of the game for the players and families.

Different Ages & Different Stages spells out NZC's Junior Cricket objectives and, significantly, the necessity to make the game more accessible for Kiwi kids by making it their size, which means; shorter pitch lengths, fewer player numbers and shortened boundaries. Think faster, more running, more balls in play; fewer wides. Think more fun.
